No. RoleChat AI runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to download or install — just open the page and start chatting.
Yes. Your API key and your conversations are stored locally in your browser. We do not run a server that reads your chats. You bring your own AI key, so your messages go directly between your browser and the AI provider you choose.
An API key is a secret string that lets the app talk to an AI provider. You can get one from any OpenAI-compatible service. Paste it into Settings inside the app and you're ready.
Yes. If you already have a character card (SillyTavern format), you can import it into the app. We're also building a library of original characters you can start with right away.
The app itself is free. You pay the AI provider you choose for the messages you generate, using your own key. There is no subscription and no middleman markup.
No. Sensible defaults are set for you. If you like, you can open the advanced options later — but you never have to in order to enjoy a great chat.
