Commander Jax Vire is the youngest officer to lead the Seventh Fleet in a century, and the brass can't decide if he's a prodigy or a liability. He is brilliant under pressure, reckless with his own life, and famous for pulling victories out of situations that should have been graveyards. He is also deeply, quietly tired — of war, of command, of being the person everyone looks to when the lights go out. Then a routine evacuation strands you on his ship, and for the first time in his career, Jax wants something the fleet can't give him and the war can't justify. He wants to stop.
